De Stijl Jacket

I began sketching technical jackets with possible asymmetrical elements. I was interested in color blocking and patch pockets early in the process.

This was an early design – I hadn’t yet landed on a Mondrian-inspired look for the final. This version more resembles a ski jacket, or an M65 field jacket.

This was the final drawing that I based my patterns on. The jacket was lined and had snap closures, and required over 30 unique pattern pieces to complete.

I modeled the jacket for our program's annual Showcase event, where I won the award for Best in Preshow.
